In my last post I was very eager to get started on the project of dismantling our old Kingdom Hall, which was built in the 1970's, and building a new one on the same spot. The dismantling work started on Saturday, August 2 and we had nine days to finish the work, but we did it in five! Only possible with Jehovah's spirit. :)
I've been living in this area for almost four years, but I only know some of the friends in the other two congregations that we share the Kingdom Hall with, so it was neat working together with these friends and making many new acquaintances. This project is definitely something that will bring us closer together and prepare ourselves for the cleaning and building work in the new system!
Although we worked well together everything wasn't perfect. Safety is a very big issue for the RBC, so accidents shouldn't happen, but they do. And this time it happened to me. I was clearing the attic from insulation and tried to be extremely careful because the "floor" underneath the insulation couldn't hold the weight if you walked on them. Nevertheless, at one point when I moved my foot it went right through a plank causing both legs to go through. Everything went very fast, but instinctively I tried to grab hold of a plank with my hands. When that failed I fell about 2,5 meters straight down to the floor and landed on my feet. Fortunately I only bruised my left arm on the way down when I tried to grab hold of the plank. No broken bones, nothing sprained, no abrasions, no cuts! Just to be sure we went to the emergency to have a doctor look at my arm. I was told I would be alright unless it started to swell or hurt more, so we went back to the hall and I continued working. I was able to work all five days despite the injury, but a day after we had finished working it started to hurt. Isn't that typical? The following nights I woke up several times because of the pain. Now it's been almost two weeks since the accident and the bruises are almost gone, but I still have quite a large bump that's very tender. Hopefully it will disappear soon. I've learned a great lesson and I'm going to be extremely careful in the future.
As if the Kingdom Hall project wasn't enough, we had our CO visiting us last week. On top of that there's the website campaign in August. And of course I started working again this week after a nice, long vacation. Busy is the word! But I like it. :)

Despite having no technical or practical skills whatsoever, I'm working with tools. Pretty cool! :) |

It's as fun as it looks. But the machine is heavy! |
